I just picked up my D7 head cut in pieces. If anyone can post them, I'll send them to you to post. Thanks, Ken Also, I am looking to buy another D7 head to modify. The reason I had this head cut up was it already was cracked.
Is there a particular reason you are working with D7 heads? They are a very lo-po design. I could however see the very large chambers working well with a supercharger. And yes, you can send me pics and I can resize and attach.
I think that he's saying its a 77 model (D7) inline 6 head. (EDIT just went over to fordsix.com and its an inline 6 head and here are the pics)
That is so cool! Wish I could have found a pic of GT40 heads like that before I started grinding on them and cutting into the water jacket.
Sorry for not posting them, I forgot most of the Maverick group likes V-8's. The head is an I6 log head, that I bought and found a crack in it. There are a couple more cuts needed, to the rest of the head to identify how much material is left in the water jackets. I have a D5 and want to buy another D7 head. I am going to port the day lights out of another head. I am currently building a 250 that will be much different than what I have now in my Maverick. My hps goal is 1hps/cid in a liveable rpm and street gas. After looking at the intake and exhaust ports, I can see a bunch of excess material. If you are interested, I'll post pictures and measurements of the work that I'm doing. Happy New Year, Ken
Wow really gives you a perspective on where to port.I would mill that valve guide boss right out of there,There is definately enough material up top to support the valve.
I'm sorry Ken! I thought you were refering to v8 heads! Forget everything I said. I know nothing about 77 I6 heads. But I appreciate your effort because I am trying to learn as I have a 200 I6 to work on nowadays. Dave
'77 heads are good heads for performance (more compression) on the inline 6. it's the total opposite of V8 heads...... early V8 heads are usually better than later ones, while later I6 heads are better than the early ones.
mean_maverick'77 heads are good heads for performance (more compression) on the inline 6. The D7's log has a larger volume over earlier D5's log. The compression, or combustion chambers are the same, 62cc's. Ken
