If we could get Mike to post a close up of his GRABBER word on the fender...it might shed some light on the subject. I seem to recall that the word GRABBER was the same color as the outside stripe:

Here is what the 1972 single color stripes look like:

I think on the two color 1972 stripes, the "inside" GRABBER would be the same color as the outside stripe, and the way it is cut out, the body color would still surround the word GRABBER.

Thank you Craig. Those are good pictures. Can you email them directly to me so that I can try to zoom/crop, etc.? I get a lot of distortion after they are resized to fit on here. Do you think the repopped two tone stripes are correct to stock? I will also email 72fordmaverick and Mike for closer up pictures. Thanks everyone for helping. I like this car a lot and want it to be nice.

All those pictures are from the gallery and from pictures posted on this message board.

Doug Bauer also has a green 1972 Grabber with two tone green stripes (or did he sell it?)

Here is an original 1972 two-tone stripe I pulled off a Junker a long time ago ... I didn't get the pinstripe but it was dark Green same as the GRABBER in the center ...

If I remember correctly this car had painted on stripes ... not decals ...

Did you ever think that many years ago when you were pulling that off a junker that it would make me this happy? That is a perfect example of what I need. This supports the idea that you shouldn't throw away anything. Thanks. I will keep working on the color matching, but I at least know how the Grabber word should look.

I should have been more clear with my description. Sorry about that. I believe I have an NOS sample piece in the color combo you're wanting. I'll check and scan it so the colors will be correct and post it. If I don't have it, I'll post that, but I'm pretty sure I've kept a sample of every color.

I was wrong. I don't have a sample of the orange/orange(red). I only have lime/lime, gold/white, and black for '72. Sorry. Good luck on them.

Craig, you have come through with some great shots for this thread. It would seem that it has been established that a 72 grabber
would have a decal with a cut out, with a outer line colored word "Grabber " seperated from the stripe by the body color.

Then I found this image in Stefans gallery of a low mileage 72 grabber. The word is solid without a cut out. And in the
same font as you have shown for 72.

    1972Grabber01_original.jpg

And this random image on FLICKR showing the "Grabber" moniker outline in outter line color with no cut out. That is
    same font again.
    13895439_cac072bd2a_o.jpg

Further adding to my confusion was the fact that my car has a different font, which I am guessing is a 71 font, obviously
incorrect for my 72. I just realized this after seeing the picture you posted of your fender. I am pretty sure you didnt
make a mistake...lol. Anyway, mine is all paint, and I really like the 71 font anyway. Not that I would have chose it for a
72, just that it was done long before I owned the car. Here is a stylized photo (that shows the font on my fender) I just added to the gallery.

    DSCF5503ge1_836775_original.jpg

Wow, them is some big pictures!
