Can anybody help. My ford maverick 2.7 diesel will only turn over very sluggishly. I have changed the battery to a brand new one and will only just turn over. It will start easily if you give it a push start. When trying to jump start it this evening with jump leads smoke came from negative terminal. any help please

Hello, and welcome to the board. I see you are from Swindon, UK, so I believe your Maverick is an SUV. This board is for the 1970-1977 Mavericks/Comets that were passenger cars in the US, Brazil, and Mexico. I'm not too familiar with the suv Mavericks but maybe your problem is with your starter or starter solenoid or something along those lines. Good luck with your issue and maybe someone else will jump in here with a suggestion.

yep, what corbin said. you might want to see if there is a maverick group in the UK. that would most likely be the SUV mavericks. good luck.:)

If you're seeing smoke from a cable connection it usually means that connection isn't tight. Could keep your battery from charging, too.
