Hey! I joined here a few weeks ago when I decided to look for a Comet or Maverick (there's no way I could find/afford a Javelin... and when I started doing research my passion of old Mercury's was rekindled). After drooling over a photo archive of Cyclones I saw some pictures here of OLD Comets (before the huge bumpers and with high-contrast paint schemes) and realized just how sweet looking they are when done up and detailed. I'm NOT GOING TO SLEEP TONIGHT... I bought a car today and bring it home tomorrow I hope. Don't have any pics yet... but the car I found doesn't even NEED a restoration. So... HELLO EVERYONE... I'll be back with pics and questions... Ciao! Whisky Canadian, eh? Vancouver, BC
OMG... you FORD ADDICT Thanks mon... did I read your avatar details right... you have 9 cars and 7 are Fords?... and I thought *I* was lucky my G/F is letting me keep 3 cars (temporarily)... Ciao! Whisky
NoOoOooOO!.... don't TEASE ME... there was one for sale in Vancouver last month... $3000.00 and gone in 2 days... but I found the Comet for 1/4 of that... but now that I have a new project starting tomorrow I feel like I'm 16 again... (BTW... I'm over 40...)
it was a '73 california car for $4grand. most of the blue paint had been baked off and the hood roof and trunk were covered in surface rust but nothing was rotted. had a cool little luggage rack on the trunk too
Hope ya learn from the old farts here... I think I mentioned that I feel like I'm 16 again?... it's been a long tie since I had a car with REAL CHROME on it... haha... I love that Chevy quote... did I mention my other vehicle is a Chevy? Did I mention it's for sale because (engine/tranny/catalytic converter/tires/brakes/electrical faults and now needs a computer) it's a Chevy Van... big white lemon... I'm going back to basics with the Comet... ciao! Whisky
