I have 4" front rims on my Comet and i drive that car everywhere. But i run a fairly large tire on it too 205/75/14.I have had 15x3.5 with 165/15 on the front and didn't like them all much it handled kinda weird. It drives perfect with the bigger tire though.

no... i'm sure you could drill a hole in the leaf and put a zert fitting in it but i doubt the grease would even go around the bushing it is so tight.

for one i don't think they ment that set up to be driven on a everyday car. personally i'd use a poly bushing. if you don't care about harsh rides you won't worry about the squeaking when it rains but i'm sure if you use the right grease it comes with you won't have that problem either.

yes depending on height.. rolled fenders and backspacing.

I was going to say that it has more to do with tire width up front than wheel width.

Narrow rims are one thing, but if you have some meat on them, it's not nearly like 165s.

I ran 165s on a Chevelle and it was a hairy ride at times.
Braking and steering suffered a great deal compared to 205s or 215s.
I would never run a tire that narrow again. I would run a rim that narrow though, as long as there was a decent tire to fit it.

    say a 275/60 on a 15x8 with 3.75-4" bs

basically i want to stuff the widest chunk of rubber back there i can. far as im concerned if your fenders arent rolled you have bad wheel fitment.

Several guys here run 275 50s and 60s on 8" rims with backspace ranging from 4 to 4.5 inches.

The backspace seems to be a hard on to pin down on our cars.
Some guys say all the BS they can muster is 4", while others say 4.5" fits fine.
4.25" seems to be the middle of the road for our cars, but they do still vary.
My guess is that wheel manufacturers BS measurements vary more than our cars do, but that is just my opinion. No proof.

right but the weaker your leafs are the more it will rub too. a good set of shocks help as well.. personally i would go KYBs. some here don't like them cuz they ride to harsh... maybe they are too old... lol! :p;) personally i don't think much people here have been on coil overs... now that is a wicked ride... lol! but from the sound of you not caring about ride so who cares... ;)

air shocks make for bad traction.. too stiff.. learned that from using the air shocks in my maverick.. if you want the rack effect, get your springs re-arched, or buy new springs, and then cut 1 coil out of your front coils. i did that, and the front looks nice with it cut out..

as far as the tires and rims go.. should be fine.. i had 3.75BS on my 15x8 rims in the rear and they had plenty of clearance. i never had tires on them, never got around to it. but i was going to go with 255 60 15
