found a nice set of 15 drag spokes. 15x7 front and 15x8 rear. 0 offset so that's 3.5" bs front and 4 front. thinking of running 215/60 fronts and 255/60 rear, dunlop qualifier gt...think these will fit?

im jacking the rear end up a lil bit with airshocks and a lil bit longer shackles to give it a nice rake. maybe new springs if i can find a nice set of staggered rates(for drag you know). but i dont even knwo where to look for the springs yet.

Air shocks are a bad idea on Mavericks. The upper shock mount was not designed to take that kind of stress, and will punch right through the floor of the trunk. I strongly suggest that you do not use them. My experience with longer shackles it that they make the car sway around and drive like crap. New springs it the only correct way to do it.

not a fan of the longer shackles. that along with the air shocks can make for a bad combination. j.c. whitney has springs. do a search on here. lots of info about them. calvert also makes a single leaf spring for drag. not sure how it is on the street though.

I will add another on the air shock issue.
I had a rear shock mount tear out myself... :(

215s seem too narrow for a 7" wide rim IMO.
They fit my 6" fronts great, but any wider rim, they look like they will bow outward.

My 73 has upper mounts that bolt to the car and they seem pretty strong... I also have air shocks, for now. I have run them for the last 20 years on my car too. Of course actual driveable time has only been like half of that tho.
Does the earlier style go thru the floor like a stang?

Aside from the fact that '70 cars don't have staggered shocks, the shock mount area is unchanged from '70-'77 in the way that the shocks mount. My brother's '72 Grabber has a nice hole in the trunk from having air shocks on it...

alright so im gonna look into the calvert springs...i went to their site and they seem like just what im looking for. do they come with the aluminum front bushing like they show in their pic on the site? anyone know how high they sit in relation to stock?

and another new descision to make.

    do i want 15x7 fronts? or 15x4.5?
probably gonna order my wheels next week so i've got some time to descide. i've never driven 4.5s on the street so i have no idea what those would be like

It literally punched through the floor of the trunk. Here is a picture of it:

I have no idea how long the shocks had been on there or how long it had been driven with them, I bought the car from the member "302grabber", and according to his posts he had owned the car since he was 13 and had never driven it, so it's been a long time ago and I'm guessing it didn't take long for that to happen. Before I removed the shock, you could push down on the back of the car and that piece of metal would move up and down. It is a very weak area in these cars.
