Frank; I installed the ones you get from AK or any mustang house. I got mine from Melvin's, in Conyers. They give you a tool to install them, and the fittings are in two pieces, for easy installation. Took about twenty minutes.

i used a ballpeen hammer and "massaged" the inside of the shock tower right where they go in and they fit and grease just fine

it doesnt hur tthe towers to work them a little with tthe ballpeen hammer either i didnt say i took the hammer and beat the crap out of it.... with two layers of sheetmetal right there you dont make it look like its puched full of dents. it doesnt take too much to make clearance for the fittings just a process of fit and refit. now that mine is done you cant even tell i had done anything to the towers.

:D went with earl, to melvin's today. i told him i wouldn't talk about his sense of direction so i want. i got the 90 degree fittings, the rubber pad for the top of the spring and spring perches. i have one side done. i went to auto zone and rented a spring compressor. now that one side is done i have a clue how to do the other side. it sure helps when you have good help and my son chris, is the best. thanks for all the help...frank...:bananaman :bananaman

 my suggestion would be DON'T DO IT.:D :D but if you are, be careful with the spring compressor. m.a.v. came by today and helped me with the drivers side. i had two types of compressors and he said there is another type he likes best. from the way he described it that would be the one to use. it has a plate that goes inside the spring and you screw it from the top.
i jacked the side i was working on up and put it on a jack stand (always on a jack stand). put a jack under the lower control arm. you will need to raise and lower it two or three times while removing the spring.
i removed the tire and took the three 9/16 nuts off the top shock mount bracket. then i jacked the lower control arm up untill it started to lift the car then removed the two 1/2 nuts, washer and rubber washer off the bottom. i pulled the shock and mount out the top. while you have the lower arm up take the two 9/16 nuts off the under side of the perch. now lower the arm back to it's s relaxed position.
put the compressor on and compress the spring. the book said to take the top a frame loose but mike and i didn't. you don't have to take the spring all the way out to put the perch on. i did because i replaced the rubber pad on the top of the spring.

now you can pull the perch out and slide the new one in . the spring has to sit on the perch a certain way. the coil end will be to the inside. look at the old one before removing.
jack up the lower arm and start releasing the compressor. watch the top so to get it centered in the top hole. with the arm up put the 9/16 nuts on the perch. now let the lower arm down and take the compressor off.
put the shock in at the top and put the 9/16 nuts back on and tighten. line the shock studs up with the holes in the perch and jack the lower arm up to get the studs in the holes. put the rubber washer, flat washer and 1/2 nuts on and tighten. let the jack down. remove that jack and check to see if everything looks good. check that all nuts are on and tight.
now put the tire on and let it back down. now you can do the other side and make any changes to the way i did it to your way.
it helps to have good help like i did. mike is the best. thanks mike.
just be careful and like what you are doing. it makes for a better job. thanks for asking and i hope this makes it easy for you...frank...:bananaman :bananaman:

Frank; glad you got it done. Might need some insight when I do mine, later in the year. I am going to replace the springs and perches and insulators. And hey, I knew where we were going, just took the scenic route, hope you enjoyed it!!!
