I just used something as close to the hole's diameter as I could find and used it, with a dab of RTV sealer to plug it.

You can also use a rubber oil drain plug. As you tighten it....it expands and holds tight.

Tap and plug, especially if the motor is assessable. Otherwise a expansion plug will suffice, But could blow out, especially with forced induction.

You'll need a 1/8" npt pipe tap and a 1/8" npt plug, can get brass 1/8" pipe plug at any HD or lowes. You can tap it with the oil pan on but you will need to push in a small piece of paper towel or rag down in the hole so the metal does not drop in the pan while you tap it, when you are done use a shop vac to suck out the metal and towel piece.

    +1

Just seemed safer than silicon or a push in plug. All I need is for crankcase pressure to push out the plug and blow oil all over the headers. Ever see a race car oil fire? :(
