I found an old picture of my original '71 Grabber,I bought it in '72 it was a mid '71 one of the first V-8 Grabbers around here,I worked for a Ford dealer as a Mechanic and the guy I bought it from( worked there also) ordered the first one as they were rumored to put V-8s in them,he had under warranty put 3.55s in it (noisey)shift kit(trans.didn't shift good)heavy duty rear springs from wagon falcon or something(sagging)...Try that trick with warranty now, that would never fly today!A guy in the parts room liked this one so much when it came in he ordered one just like it.They were identical black Grabbers, both V-8s with PS,mine auto with bench seat ,his 3 speed floor shift stick, with buckets. This is what I'm repoducing with my blue one, notice the 8" reversed rear wheels,L-60 Mickeys, and the stance...just like mine now.(Thanks to my wife for scanning pic.for me!)
nice car! hard to find black Grabbers as it is so it's great to see pictures of them. how long did you own it? why'd you let it go?? sorry, but im curious
littelredtoy,Yes those were 8"deep dish rear and 7"front Keystone Klassics,I had it until March "75,bought new F-150,put big tires on it and got it dirty....The Maverick never saw snow,I later had it painted straight black,no stripes and Cragars,so my "repo car "will have Cragars,a little of both looks, besides Keystone only makes 15" and I like the big and little 14"/15" look. That car fooled a lot of people, won a lot of races with it,302,289 heads,Crane cam,Torquer intake,Accel,Doug Thorley headers,4sp.Toploader ,Hurst,9"4.30 Trac-Loc,Mr.Gasket J bolt traction bars, lots of memories, thats why I'm repo-ing it for my 3rd childhood....
more old pics I had saved these from posts here over the years. I thought that you might enjoy them. Seth
Its cool you still have that awesome old picture. What a great direction to take your current Maverick. Good luck, and put some pictures in your gallery!
