I have a 72 Mav, 302 automatic. It is a 3 speed. DOes that mean I have a C-4 transmission? National parts Depot has a chrome trans pan for Mustangs with a C4 for $22. Wanna make sure it fits after I put a universal drain on it. Re: Front schock; I bought a replacement set today and had no problem getting 3 of the 4 nuts/bolts off. The problem was the inside bottom nut. I used every combo I had with my 1/2" sockets, angle joints and wrenches but just couldn't get it off. Any suggestions?
you have a c-4. why the chrome tranny pan? nobody will ever see it. unless you need one i would just stay with the stock one and put a drain plug in it. also the chrome retains more heat.
I agree totally with what Don says. I'll also throw this in...cheap chrome dress up parts also leak like crazy-most of the time. I'd keep my stock pan or step up to a cast aluminum pan with fins. It is deeper, less likely to leak, and the fins along with extra capacity keeps the tranny cooler. They aren't cheap though. $150 minimum for a nice one.
