Hey y'all! Well the fuel pump bit the dust and I just got around to finding a replacement. I found this on ebay. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/BLUE...ryZ33555QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ELEC...ryZ42604QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem I bought one and the regulator that goes with it. I figure it's a similar design to the Holley Blue and less than half the price. The regulator is 14.50 and they'll throw it in the same box as the pump. I'm anxious to get it stuck on the car and see how it does. But anyway, I just wanted to share the "possible good thing" with y'all in case anybody else wanted to give it a try! Y'all take care! Preston
That's the same regulator that I just bought. Nice and shiney chrome! Mine didn't have any instructions with it when it came last week. I'm waiting on my Holley blue pump to come in sometime this week and then I can hook mine up. It looks to be made pretty good, and I think that Procomp is supposed to be a good brand, we'll see in a few days...
Whacha got there is a shiny blue pump! But then I'm always attracted to shiny objects!!! Ooooo...look at the shiny sun! Oh wait, I digress! It's the ADD. Anyhow, tell us how it works out. It's a really good price and it looks identical to the blue!
be careful with the pro comp stuff. or pro comp type. i bought one and it leaked immediately. had to call pro comp direct and they sent me out a replacement parts only pump. cost me 30 more clams. just a word of caution, as most of those guys on greed bay are not authorised pro comp dealers. could be i just got a bad one, but ya never know.
Wanted to give an update on the fuel pump and regulator. So far, so good!! I like it other than the fact that it's loud. It really is just a shiny "Holley" pump. I would definitely reccommend it though!
Check out how I mounted mine. Mine is holley red, but just as loud until I mounted it on rubber grommets... You wouldn't have to put them on the drop brackets like I did, but I wanted mine to sit as low as possible to minimize cavitation in the pumps. The grommets were 4 for $3 at NAPA and I put them between the frame and pump, and again between the nut and pump to keep vibrations down. I can now not hear the pump AT ALL and before I could hear it over my dual Flowmaster Super 44s http://home.cmaaccess.com/~scodon/jpgs/44insidemp3.mp3 Right after the engine lights up, you can immediately hear the hum of the fuel pump. Sounds like R2D2 in the back seat.... Now that it has the rubber grommets, you cannot hear it at all.
Thanks for the pictures! I thought that someone on here had used the grommets to quieten the pump down......I need to do it. Cause it's fairly annoying.... Although I'm just thrilled that it's running!
There is nothing you can do to that pump to make it quiet enough. I once suspended mine just from the fuel lines and it still was too loud.
at what point in a motor build do you need an electric pump? this is the pump i am running...SUM-250004-1 (6.5-8 psi./80gph) $49.95 bolts in the stock location. ...
When I put my engine together the timing cover that I used had no provision for a mech. pump. So I bought a small electric pump then. I wish I had taken the time to find a different cover so I could have run a mech. pump......But it's on the list for the next engine..... Oh, and I have the same reason as Mr. Ray also......Been running with an electric pump for 4 years and I've never broken a driveshaft....so I guess it works!
