Guys--how do I know how much is too much??????? THere is a car on ebay that I am interested in, but everyone says that it is WAAAAYYY overpriced. The car looks sooooooo sweet. I need some of you pros to look at the listing and give your honest opinion.
It is item # 280167810589 :) Thanks guys.

EDIT--the reason that I want a car that needs no "fixing up" is that I don't know how to do the work. :hmmm: I am a girl, so when you guys were out there working on cars with your Dads learning how to do all of this, I was in the stands at the drag races making eyes at the drivers! :evilsmile

I LOVE the cars, but I don't know how to do much more than DRIVE them! :slap:

Being big bumpered and not a Grabber, my personal opinion is that the car is not worth that much. I'm thinking more in the $4,000-5,500 range.

Hey--thanks. I called and talked to the guy about it. He's pretty firm on his price, unfortunately. Also, I am pretty spooked on driving long distances to see a car--my husband and I just had a really bad experience last week. We drove 8 hours only to be disappointed. I guess I will just have to keep looking, but MAN would I love to have that car. Thanks for helping my poor husband to keep me grounded.

I'm with Jamie on that one. It is in REAL nice shape and probably doesn't need any work but you could find a New Mexico or Arizona no rust car and rebuild every mechanical piece and have less than $8000 in it. probably less than $5000 if you did all the work yourself.

I don't think the car is that far off on price. It IS a V-8, has AC, and is a rust free California car. I personally could not get past the color.

The color is a little different, but believe it or not, I'm ok with it. You know what I really wanna do with my MAV if I ever get it???? I want to have it custom painted. On the hood, I want someone to airbrush a girl "Frankenstein's Monster"--not the bride of Frankenstein, but a GREEN girl with stitches on her face, etc. Her name will be "Frankie" and she will have the look of a WWII pin-up girl, except that she will be Frankenstein--green. A sexy monster. Now--I know what you are thinking......and NO, I do not go that way--I am married and like the boys, but I am also a Frankenstein fan and I wanna "tough, but girly" car----a sexy monster. Now you all can have a moment of silence to pray for poor StallionSteve, for the poor bloke is married to me!!!!!

Very nice car, no doubt in that but i agree with everyone else... it is over priced. my opinion would run around $5500-$6000

It looks like a nice car to me, and if you bought something less, you could have that much invested easily to get a lesser car into that condition. The only thing I don't like are the seats, but they could be redone, or replaced.

    green mav

I love you honey. That just seems like a lot of green. I think of these cars as toys or easy to maintain rides, not investments.

By the way if we get a car that needs fixing up we can do it together, Frankie and all. even the color of that car in Salem. You know the sparkle green one.

It may overpriced, but compared to what? I bought a '77 for $1,200 and when I'm finished, I'm going to have a total of about $7,000 in it plus hours of my labor, Jamie's labor, and Earl's labor. I paid $2,500 for '73 Grabber with factory V-8, PS, and AC. To get it in the shape of the car in question, I'm going to spend at least $4,000 more plus have hundreds of hours of labor in it.

When you consider that this may be a car that you buy, drive, and don't spend another penny on it, $8,000 may not be bad. I'd offer $6,500 and try to meet him in between.

    Just my two cents.

Seats and carpet minimum need to be redone for that kinda $$$! IMO...
May be my PC but that driver kickpanel at the carpet looks suspicious... :16suspect
