    Missing my old '70 Maverick
    We might be related!

I can related. The whole reason I bought my (1st) Maverick is because I had a 347 looking for a chassis that I was going to race at the track ONLY.

The engine came out of my '90 Mustang vert. A wet road and a heavy foot took my '90 Mustang from 'Pristine' to a pile of junk in a few seconds.

The last picture taken of it below. :(

Since acquiring the first Maverick for the strip, I got one a lot milder for the street - a 250ci. Much safer. :yup:

I love street cars, but I believe racing should be done at the track. I have a good friend (BlackanTan) that posts alot on turbo forum, I'm going to get him to help me with pictures.

Nice car! And :Welcome: to the board! Would love to see more pictures of your car.

Believe it or not from the picture, my dad's Comet was driven on the street 99% of the time. It only saw the strip a couple of times, ran mid-low 12's on a 306 built by Lamar Walden. Cruised right along down the street with those huge Mickey Thompsons on the back, turning heads everywhere we went. Of course we got pulled over multiple times by cops thinking it wasn't street legal, including one that literally got down and looked at the sidewall of the tires to find the DOT marking. I don't care what the current trends are, there will never be anything cooler then some fat tires out back and a scoop through the hood in my opinion. (y)

I'm sure it probably is the same car, the car was at the Atlanta Dragway many times through the years for car shows, and that is the only strip it ever saw while we had it. My dad owned it from 1984-2003, it was totally stock when he got it. It belongs to a guy in Pensacola, FL now and there have been a few sightings of it in recent years at the Turkey Rod Run in Daytona.

Hey Andy, Quick Silver is a real Grabber,it was pulled out of a field. No hood, or motor had a tree growing up throught the engine bay that had to be cut down before the car could be moved. I'll see if I can find that picture. This was 1979, the owner then Dale Westmoreland and another friend Carl Redding JR built the car. Dale raced it from 1980 to 1989 when I bought it. I bought it rolling, put in my 351w, William Cook c4 and had a blast on the street for a few years. In 1993 ran points at Ware Sholes and qualified for bracket world finals, which was held in Bristol that year, been hook hard ever since.
