Wow...eight days of cruisin with about 4000 registered cars and probably another 1000-2000 unregistered ones. I drove my blue Grabber the first 6 days logging about 600 miles on it just running back and forth everywhere. I took the brown 74 LDO the last two days due to a vibration from my rear end in the blue car. Anyway, the night time cruising was the most fun. There is several stretches of highway where thousands of people just stand or sit and watch the bumper to bumper cars slowly parade by. Of course there are a lot of roudy parade watchers inciting burnouts every 100 yards or so. And SOME of us can't resist every now and then . I didn't do like some of the idiots though and sit there melting my tires off. However I do believe that's where my vibration was created. I didn't take time to fix it yet since I had another car to drive. Not losing any of MY fun time . Oh yeah, looks like I sold the LDO too. It'll be going to a good owner that will be able to take care of it so that makes me feel better. I really hate to sell it but I need to put the money in my Sprint and my green 71 Grabber. I think the new owners will likely join the board too. I was happy to see about 10 Mavericks and Comets this week. The most I have ever seen at Cruising the Coast. I enjoyed the company of Chris (GrabberGT) and his family Friday and Saturday. He's got an awesome car and made the trip all the way from Fort Worth Texas in it. There was a pretty nice green 70 running around driven by a guy named Jeff. A real nice 73 with some nice mods driven by an older gentleman named Johnny. A decent orange 74 sitting roadside with a 4 sale sign. A beautiful 71 green Grabber (same color as mine) driven by another guy named Jeff. A black 71-72 passing by I couldn't get a pic of but looked real nice. A beautiful burgundy small bumper car with a big snorkel scoop on the other side of the highway, again no pic. A yellow 72 Comet broken down...of course I stopped and helped them out. Their left rear wheel came off driving down the road. His impact evidently didn't get them as tight as he thought. Anyway, his brake shoes were knocked out of place and they couldn't get the drum back on. Didn't seem to know anything about brakes so I dove in and got it put back together. He had just painted it last week...so much for that quarter panel !!! I wish I had thought to get a pic but I didn't. Anyway, I do have pics!!! About 650 in all!!! And NO, I am not posting them all here. I'll post them elsewhere in the next day or so and give a link to them for anyone wanting to see what Cruising The Coast is all about. I know all of you guys missed me the last week but you'll just have to get over it. I'll let ya know when the pics are up! Have a good night!!!
Ray I had a great time " as usual". It was nice that Chris(aka grabbergt) let me drive his car all weekend , even though i had to primise him i wouldn't dog it. " Damn the luck". and my other son Kevin still has a big smile from all the fun. I wish we could have hooked up with some of the other mavs/comets and done some cruising. Maybe next year. It was a pure pleasure visiting with you and i promise i will have the 73 there next year. thanx
Already looking forward to next year! Oh yeah, and when I stated "(should be against the law to have this much fun)" some of it was! I saw blue lights behind me twice and was getting ready to pull over but they were getting someone else.
Sounds like a great time Ray,,, someday I am going to attend that event. Just need more vacation days. Dan
That sounds like my kind of fun! Looking forward to that link so I can see what this is all about. I like pictures. Pictures are good.
I had a great time this weekend in Biloxi. I made the drive down from Fort Worth after finally getting the motor put back together only a week earlier. With the 5-speed, I think we got 19 miles/gallon for the trip. Thats as good as my Blazer. Of course during the cruise it was considerable less. What a great trip. I wish there could have been more Mavs around to hang out with. Next year, I'll register for the show and maybe then we can travel around in a pack from one location to another. (sounds counter Maverickish actually) The Mavs get lots of attention there. People think its really cool to see a Maverick cruising around and making noise. Cant wait for next year. Already making my upgrade plans.
Hi, Sounds like you had a great time is there an offical website for this cruise as i may want to go next year we just bought 1972 Maverick Grabber that is Grabber yellow all orginal we also have a one of two 1972 Mevrick Sprint Canadian version it was a rental car for Hertz and maybe we will take it one of them. Hi Tom, It would be great to have you down here with either car...especially the Sprint. I plan on having my Sprint freshened up and there next year. It will certainly be quite a drive but I tell you right now, you won't be the only Canadians here. http://www.cruisinthecoast.com/
