There are no '68 Mavericks, as for a straight 5.4L swap into a 70-77 Maverick, no.

im sure youd have to at the very least cut the shock towers out

That engine can be put in a 70-77 Maverick but you will have to do quite a bit of modifications to the car. Best bet would be to put a Mustang II frontend under it to start. But I see you are from Equador and I don't know if you can get that kind of stuff. If you cant the other options are to cut the shock towers way back and go from there. Otherwise no it won't fit.

You will probably have to make a cutout in the hood too because the engin is going to be too tall for a stock Maverick hood to close.

    HUGE cowl hood.
    Mustang II front end.
Extensive under hood modifications, firewall moved back, radiator moved, frame modified, motor mounts fabricated, exhaust invented, transmission mount fabricated, driveshaft fabricated, braked updated, transmission hump and linkage altered to fit modern unit, rear suspension modded and the obligatory computer wiring NIGHTMARE!

I have a 1976 Maverick Stallion, and 85 More Mavericks and Comets in Inventory.
A quick and faster way,, and we are going to try this over the winter,, Use the entire front clip from a Ford Thunderbird frame rails and all,, modify the area where the fenders bolt down along the top of the shock tower,, if the T-bird is a 95 4.6L the front struts and springs and engine mounts will work,, ,,
We are going to graft the front clip and add the independent rear suspension from the T-bird as well,, The 4.6 harnes needs Mods but its alot easier then making an entire new one,,, When we start we will post the pics and how its going,,, and what problems we run into,,

What is shown in those pictures is what will be needed to get the engine in the car. You will not need to do firewall modifications or anything like that, the 5.4 is no larger then a 4.6. A Mustang II front end will be required, no way it's going to fit with just shaved shock towers.

    Another opinion.
The 5.4 is only 330 cu/in. and not that big a change in displacement.
You can make the same killer combination by strokeing a 302 to 347 and eliminate ALL the hassle or set your Maverick on the truck frame and go from there.
Everythings in place and ready to run but the body.
