For all of you who think that Shelby would have never put his name on a Maverick???

Got to drive a Shelby Charger (Non-Turbo) on a fun lap. It was faster on the autocross track then my Datsun 510 by 3 seconds and I had won the class with my car. They were fast, handled great (for fwd) and had good fit and finish.

Paint faded fast here. We don't have rust issues in So.Cal. Still like to have one.

We don't usually have rust issues too bad in Georgia... They very rarely salt the roads here. Possible that the car in the junkyard was from up north (the one in my grandpa's field is from Michigan). Still, for a car to rust that bad... damn.

I had my eye on one of those Dodge Rampage's many years ago. It was black and silver just like the one in the photo and I was all set to buy it untill I really looked it over. It had some serious rust issues in the frame that I was just not equipped to deal with at the time. Too much damn road salt. I had enough problems with my Mustang and as much as I liked the Rampage I walked away from it.

I owned a 1985 GLH Turbo Omni. That car was a total blast to drive. That little 4 cyl. would blow the doors off my V8 Maverick and was great on gas. As far as rust, it had a little bit on the lip of the rear hatch, that's all. I'd still be driving it if a drunk driver hadn't hit me & totalled it.

    Here's a photo from 1987...

without Comet now just keeping in touch
Saw a GLH Autocross one day it ran like a bat outta hell, But it is till a dodge and they are still Ass ugly. Shelby musta had a lot of past due bills to bastardize his name on these crap cars, It had to be the Iaccoca connection. My 2nd new car was an '83 Turismo thats just a rebadged Plymouth TC3 biggest piece of crap I've ever bought. Rampage, Rampuke is a better description, Sundance test drove one of those one day 0-60 in about oh.. you'll need a calender for that one.

Next to my 69.5 Maverick sits a Scamp(the Plymouth version of the Rampage) that set many class records for my husband in the 80s and early 90s. Ugly, but consistent! We just sold a Rampage and a daytona but still have the Shelby Charger. That 2.2L Turbo stuff has a following. I just see it as taking up room that could be filled with Mavericks and Comets!
