I was thinking of offering complete, pre-cut to length and flared, stainless brake line kits for our Mavericks. They would include all stainless fittings and be complete from the master right on down. All the lengths will pre-flared and w/fittings but straight and will need to be bent to fit by you- a small hand bender will do the job nicely (you're not going to make tight bends smoothly in stainless by hand) I am thinking of selling the complete kit for $120. You guys can post some feedback here, express interest, etc etc. I appreciate it!
I think the price is reasonable, but from my experience they would need to be pre-bent in order to sell a good volume of them. I might still be interested in a set or two for myself un-bent though. Good luck!
Let me know man. Also, another member pointed out a company that has already brought pre-bent stainless lines to market- looks like they have it broken up into sections in their catalog (front, front to rear and rear axel) at significantly more total cost than 120. They also don't mention stainless fittings... but, they ARE pre bent. I dunno, even I would consider spending more for a pre-bent kit, even though I can bend them myself, lol- but I thought the 120 would be attractive to folks who were handy but on a tighter budget.
I agree, for the money, it's a good deal, but for real marketability, most people want to be able to bolt it up and go, you know?
I agree that the bends are the hard part...I have some on my car that I "tried" to bend a couple years back. They work and are safe, but look like I tried to bend them myself...
If they were already cut to the correct lengths with flares and all fittings, I'd be all over that for 120 bucks, assuming of course that they are correct for disc brakes. All the brake lines currently on my car are cheap steel lines that I bent by hand. Kept having problems with the original steel lines blowing out, so I just replaced them all. I'd love to have stainless lines on my '73 I'm building.
I would buy a set with stainless fittings/unions and all bent or not for that money. You could do a set for disc and non disc apps as well as disc upgrade kits.
If I'm gonna spend money I want them pre-bent. And I would actually be willing to pay a little more for the bending. For me I either do all the work or almost none of it. Because this way it'll be worth my time that I can spend on something else.
Yeah, that was me. Notice the similarity between my user name on here and the winning bidder on the ebay listing...
LOL scooper- Yea- I was just making sure b4 I started up this whole conversation with that person and they would be like: "wtf are you talking about?!" lol
