Two 1973 LDO Mavericks (one 4 Drag one 4 driving like Mad on the roads :) ) also have a 75 6cyl Stock! Ok, well sort of Stock :P
now that i'm getting near the end of the first pre-orders of the grabber hoods... i also finshed getting info on the mirrors! btw thanks to Ray for getting me a set to match everything up!

ok sorry don't have anything yet... but... i did source all parts and labor / time that is would cost me to do these.

first off they would be a vacuum mold not a hand laid peice.

with hand laid carbonfiber it tends to bind the weave of the carbon and the weave doesn't always come out streight. not a big issue but i feel for this mirror to come out right, it needs to go though a differant process. long story short, it costs more to do it, but it will come out 10xs nicer and lighter then a hand laid one.

(btw i'm thinking of changing my spoilers to this process but the cost would be probably about 50 bucks more... what do you guys think?)

i have almost everything ready to go.

the lense would be most likely tinted blue the bottom of the base a gloss and the outside of the mirror part carbon. i would make left and right hand side mirrors.

the best i can get these out for about $149 to $159 each plus shipping which shouldn't be too much since the item will be light and the box is small unlike spoilers or hoods.... anyways i was trying to match the price of the lousy cheap repos out there for mustangs they were about $129 each. so do you guys think for $20 or $30 bucks more for something that fits, not to meantion since no one makes a repo for a maverick sport mirror either..... is it worth it? would you buy it? would you buy one side only or would you buy both?

so..... i need to hear back from you guys if this would be a go or not. i probably won't start on this till the first of the year and also depends on funding to get it started, cuz it is not cheap! :(

i dont think ive sen any of your products in prson but you spoiler looks really good as-is from the pics ive sn on your page. although an updated grabber spoiler might be cool, maybe a little larger like the stang shelby pieces but it sounds like you got alot on the plate already

the mirrors sound good too. little out of my price range but im sure they'll be a hit

Derek; Sounds reasonable, and I would get a set if they turn out well. I assume the drivers side will be adjustable just like the originals. :)

I would like to have a set.

Even if the demand doesn't seem to be enough at this moment, the sport mirrors are getting harder and harder to find, and more expensive on eBay and at swap meets. As the originals continue to dry up, the market for your carbon fiber ones will increase. People can always paint them if they want a stock look. You didn't mention whether the driver's side would be remote like original. I'd still take a set if the driver's isn't remote, but that might have a bearing on alot of people's choice to purchase a set.

As for something else to consider in carbon fiber, how about taillight bezels; maybe a stock version and the Bobcat version. Maverick and Comet emblems would be pretty cool too.

Good luck! Your stuff looks fantastic. I'll be ordering a carbon fiber Grabber hood from you soon. REALLY awesome to see that get done!

The base is a gloss? What does that mean?...
I suppose if you made one (set)you would be set up for making others, so wanting to see a pair would mean you would be producing them... As Earl asked, will they be adjustable like oem? Sounds like you have taken on a challenge, for such a small part.

Another thing to consider: What about the sport mirror gaskets. Nobody repops those (at the moment) and they are impossible to find. Keep that in mind.

The gaskets could be a issue. I'm interested in a set,,, not a guarantee on sale but close. I DON'T like the remote adjustment,,leg hits or always seems to get bumped! I don't think many different people drive our cars an one adjustment should be good to go! If your going original,,, wait till everybody swaps the c/f an buy orgs.

thanks for the feedback so far

i looked at the doing the remotes but the cost on the repo mustang ones were already too much IMO! i can't come close to that not to menation i don't even know where to get parts like that. :(

so the dirver will be like the pass. side... you'll just have to move them by pushing the mirror.

as far as gaskets that would be another source... i'd have to work on that. but as far as what i did for the current mirrior i have i just made one out of rubber. and cut the holes...lol heck someone could use a bicycle tube... ;)

also one more question.... you think you guys would just buy one side... then later on when i get more flow i would do the other side... just a thought. also did mavericks ever come with just one side?

as far as paint you are right they can paint them... if someone bought a repo they would have to repaint it anyways. at least another 100 bucks.. so my thought is if they don't like it they can paint it like you said... but i think after someone see the how this process of CF is done i odn't think anyone would want to paint it..lol!

you meantion bezels i still see them way too cheap on ebay right now so nothing i would do yet... logos would not be something i would take on yet either. but i might consider the boomerangs again! with this process i could do them and it would be cheaper then doing the mirrors. just another thought i'm going though. personnally the problem with just the boomerang in CF is that would be the only thing i would make so lux models and other models with the rest of the stainless steal personally would look funny with just that one peice in CF. i mean you could paint them but really i still think it would look funny. any one know how many maverick just came with the boomerang and no other stainless on rear quarter and doors?

the base is not going to be CF it will be a poly or a resin maybe a sold CF peice not sure yet. so it will be glossed black to match. not to menation this will be two peices since mustang guys can use the mirror part themself. the idea was brought up by someone hear that i should do that. a smart idea since i don't think the maverick guys buying these would even come close to paying off my start up cost.

non-sport mirror mavericks in many cases only had a mirror on the drivers side.

Put me down for a pair.

One question, though. Will the passenger side be convex like modern passenger side mirrors? That would be a real bonus as the stock mirrors have a very narrow field of view.

    Thanks loads.

Will the mounting for the mirror be exactly the same as the stock part?

If so, then folks could just gut the remote cable and mirror glass from a stock Ford mirror off any vehicle with sport mirrors, and bolt them into your housing.
    Make sense?

It all hinges though on the mounting being the same as the Ford design.

When you said probably $149-$159 each, do you mean per set or per mirror?

exactly same mounting. but didn't look at how the stock one works... this one will be probably a pivot ball then the mirror mounted to a flat surface so i don't think they will work.

    each...
repo mustang ones are 129 each
