Changed the Maverick over to 5 lugs today and added the new Rodlites in the process. 15 X 3.5 with 165-80-15 on front and 15 X 8 with 295-50-15 on back. Yeah, they fit. All I had to do was cut the bumpstop back a little and it all fit, lots of room to spare. I did roll the fender lip, but didnt really need to. Also, I put a better set of leafs on the rear, the ones on this car were shot, looked like a lead sled.
Love that look! Big/little will never go out of style. That said, the 165s up front are scary to drive on the street at times. Been there, done that. Not much grip.
It'd be cool if it had the GO to match, lol. Still wheezin' along with 200 power for now. Hopefully by the end of October, I will have the first of its V8s installed. For the time being it will have a mildly cammed 5.0 with iron heads, small tube headers, etc. I will drive it like that while I build its new stroker Cleveland. Planning on a 408 Cleveland with 4V heads, 1 7/8 headers, 4 speed, etc. Maybe by the time it gets Cleveland power, it will also be painted. Currently planning on Bright Yellow (Viper Yellow) with black Grabber appointments. Will be using either a glass cowl hood or more likely flat glass hood with Boss 429 scoop. Still looking for Bobcat taillights..I saw a post on another board where someone made their own, I may do that also, getting tired of looking. Dont you just love the look of that thing from behind? Well, except for the skinny little exhaust pipe peeking out...
Funny you said that. I've never really had a car with normal size front tires, lol. My `57 Ford Custom sedan had the same tires as this one, but with Pro Stars, and I drove it like that for a couple years. Never really had any trouble with it. Before that I had a line of Fox body Mustangs, and soon after I bought them, they all had skinnies on front. In retrospect, I wish I had waited until the swap meet at the dragstrip last saturday to buy the fronts, because the VW people had a stack of new ones there, the 145R15 and 165R15s..those are nice. Thanks for all the positive comments, guys, I am inspired now
3.5 inch BS. There is still a good bit of room on the inside. If Weld made a 4 inch BS it would have been ideal. I plan to cut a nine inch to a total axle to axle width of 55 inches, which should pull the tires in a little more. I have one done now, but it is 56 inches total. I would really like to have the other 1/2 inch per side. I was surprised that I didnt have to scuttle my plans and go get a smaller tire to be honest. I was really holding my breath there until I let it down off the jack...then :bananaman
