without Comet now just keeping in touch
KEEP IT!!! you'll regret it thie minute you sign the title over!!

I sat on My Comet from '98 until last year when things finally started to move. I am not kinding about this I started telling people that for Fathers day Birthdays, Christmas, wht ever that i would like " Comet Cash" or ask for contributions to the Sve the Comet Society, I can't even get my wife to buy parts for me for x-mas, ( she still hates my car)(y). But My mother and Father in law, my mother, my kids , my btrother in law, my wifes Aunt and uncle all have given me Comet Cash, O'Reilly's gift cards, etc.

I have even used Casino winnings to get things done... gradually, i will tell you this too, there have been times when I get down and frustrated with not getting things done. But I get on this site and I get re-energized and walk out at 2 am to go to the Garage and just look at my project, this is something that is for me, that I can look at and see it progress. 1 year ago I was afraid to drive it to the store 5 miles away, Today I feel confident now to drive to to Kansas City, Next year I hope to go to Kentucky !! :)

Anyway Don't give up be patient and play it like the stock market stay in long term you'll like the results!!

A fast car is going to get you into trouble and cost you money in tickets. I love my 250 mav. My wife calls it the putt-putt car, but it is so much fun to drive and good on gas.

I love the look my daughter gives me when I pick her up from school in the 4-dr beast. LOL She tries to walk home.

the fastr they go the faster that little needle on the dash hits that big E. with the price of gasoline and the money troubles you describe it dosnt seem like a good mix.

Yeah I can see it now lol. The old car would let out a tired sigh, blow out some black smoke, and give up the ghost. Besides, it sits at Big-o tires awaiting front end parts. :)

Newtoford has a very good point. Your toy should be a flame-belching gas hog. Your DD should be a I6.

Start planning a nice 408 build for your mav. Get on desktop dyno and piece it together, then work towards it.
You can pick up a nice, newer 4-banger (DD) for $500 if you look hard enough.

my crapped out, yet good on gas 4dr 6 cylinder comet gts the honor of being daily driven. it looks like hell ans is just as slow but went back and forth to school all week on a single tank of gas.

20+ miles a day, 5 days a week=over 100 miles on about $30 woth of gasoline isnt too bad. i needs a tune up in a bad way so that # will only get better when im motivated to get it done.

on my regal a 20 city mile trip=$10 worth of gas but i can hit the gas and put that thing sideways melting the tires off. its fun but you pay for it.

    Tony,

Neither of those mpg numbers sound very promising. The Regal is horrible 6ish mpg???
The Comet isn't any better. 10 mpg? It must really need a tune-up...

Just be lucky you have a Maverick. Every time I get close something seems to get in the way. Mavericks/Comets are honestly some of the most overlooked cars out there. Every time I tell someone I'm wanting to buy one they don't even know what it is. Then they see them and say something to the effect of "I haven't ever seen that before". I can't wait till I can finally get one just to see the heads turn.

ya the comets in dire need of some attention. exhaust donut being #1. the stop and go trip each way doesnt help. that 10 mile one way trip takes atleast a half hour.

the regal has a 403 with a nice cam 4bbl and headers. i can get 12-15 if i drive it normal, but what fun is that?
