Poking around ebay, I found a completed auction of a steel Grabber hood like my 72 that went for $375. Is this a fluke or are they that pricey.

What years had what hoods? I passed up a 72 Grabber parts car with a good hood (that was about all) because it would have been hard to drag it out of where it was and the guy wouldn't part it. Maybe I goofed.

The Grabber hoods (with the two little scoops) were on the 1971 & 1972 models.

$375 is nothing compared to what some have gone for.

"GOOD" 71,72 Grabber hoods around here are like GOLD! Now when I say Good I don't mean with the front lip all rusted out. But at any rate $375 around here would be a Steal.

Yes, $375 would be a very reasonable price. They can easily fetch $400 to $500 for unrusted and undented ones and I've seen them go higher. You can still occasionally run into one from a seller who doen't know that, but that's rarer nowadays. They have been gone from most yards for years. They are so expensive, it's probably a good idea to pull and keep ones that are rusted in the front so long as the rest of the hood is pretty good. I'm sure they will never be reproduced in metal. It would just be crazy expensive to do so. Saving some rusty ones can allow people who can't or won't spend enough for a really good hood to still have one. Even fiberglass Grabber hoods generally run over $300 and the carbon fiber ones are over $600, so even going those routes doesn't save much, if any, money.

I have seen them even with rusted out front lips go for over $300. Any repairable Grabber hood is certainly worth saving if at all possible.

I sold mine several months back because the guy just wanted it so bad. The front lip was rusted out and I really didnt want to sell it so I told him $400...he said checks in the mail ship it to me. He had almost $600 w/shipping in that hood and it needed to be fixed. But I told him all that before he bought it and he was still ok with it, so I was too.

I've had two and I let the first one go for $140 :slap: (front inner support was rusted out) and I sold the last one for $300 and the front inner support was rusted out too.

$300 to $600 for rusted ones....? It's getting even worse than even *I* thought.

Thank God for Maverick Man! I was thinking this exact same thing when I sold my hood. I was like well I can always buy a carbon fiber one from MaverickMan. :yup:

I like the idea that CF parts are 'plug-n-play'.
Not like fiberglass that needs all sorts of trimming and fitting.
Also, if you don't paint your FG right away, you got an ugly part.
The CF can go long term without paint and look good.
From what I understand though, you have to seal them sooner or later to keep them from delaminating.
    Is this true Derrick???
