I'm doing a C4 to T5 conversion. My new brake peddle is from a manuel brake early model Maverick. My car is a 77 comet with power brakes. The power brake rod from the booster does not line up with the manuel brake peddle. Is there a company that makes some sort of product that will let me move the rod? Need some sort of rod that makes something like half of a "S". :hmmm:

You are going to need the power disk brake pedal to make it work. It is longer, and mounts in a different slot. You also need the rod. I used an adjustable rod bought off ebay. If you are going to a T5, you need a clutch pedal. Best to get a Maverick or Comet pedal set. Don't know if there were manual shift/power brake cars, but that would be your best bet. Mine is manual disc brakes, so a Maverick manual brake pedal set from a '73 went in mine. Hope this helps.

I have heard that the early 1970 pedals are different and won't work with the later cars. Basically a mounting issue since they used a different floor/firewall??

I have also heard that you could change the original 77 power pedal over to the manual setup. You would have to cut the foot part down to the size of the manual break pedal and use its rubber cover. But this would give you the correct alignment for the rod.

This is not something that I have personally done, just some information I have heard from others. So take it for what it is worth, which might be nothing.

Good luck, and please post whatever solution you come up with.

Well I do have both the manuel brake clutch assembly & the power brake auto assembly. I will try to see what I can do to get the auto brake peddle out & some kind of way work out something. The braket that the peddle swing in are about the same. Just need minor fabrication the bolt to the power brake booster studs.

The reason it doesn't line up is because the Maverick power booster only fits automatic cars. The brake pedal comes down the left side of the column where a clutch pedal should be. I dont see how you would hook up a standard pedal to a booster system since the booster is angled toward the center of the car.

I have been working on this for a week or so & I have not came up with nothing yet. But I let some of my guys know what problem I'm having & see what we come up with. It should be a way, maybe make new peddles. Keep your eyes out for some race car forum that build race cars from the ground.
