JOEXR793 is working out a deal with Spectra Premium Industries (SPI), a company that specializes in gas tanks, to produce a gas tank for the 1971 - 1973 Maverick and Comet. The price of a brand new gas tank would be around $225 - $277 US dollars and it would be available through local distributors.

In order for this to become a reality, there must be a high enough demand for the tanks in order for SPI to produce them. So if you are seriously interested in a gas tank, please respond to this thread with how many you would purchase.

Stefan, would a poll work for this? List 1,2,3, more than 3, and none. That would keep from having to maintain a running tally throughout the thread.

I would buy 2 at least. But isn't the 74 tank the same as the 71-73???

A list would be more effective, as it could be sent to the company.

74-77 tanks are a little deeper in the back. when you swap to small bumpers a little bit if the tank is visable below the rear valence. 70-73 tanks slant up so its not visable

I don't think so, my 74 has the same tank as my 73 did, I just went out and checked the one off my first 74 and the 74 Comet I cut up. Those other tanks are listed 75 and on.

Yes....1974 tank is a tapered tank like the 1971-1973.
