I have a 1976 Maverick Stallion, and 85 More Mavericks and Comets in Inventory.
To have a fast car is not enough. I bet alot of guys have had that favorate girl out for a cruise, and some Moron pulls up and wants to play.
So its gotta be done,, The throttle gets dropped and its on,, Nothing like a little fun. Now looking over you see that special gal pushing on the floor wishing she had a brake peddle on her side of the car.. ( We all been there).
My Girl friend at the time told me (quote) I know your a good driver, and I like to go fast some times, But I dont want to feel it. I wanna be in a car that is smooth like a big car and is fast to where I really cant tell.
So I got to thinking,, She has a point. I have layed out the design of what I call the Ultimate Maverick, and I plan on building it this year. I will document all of the conversions if any one is interested in followng.
The Idea: Using the Independant rearend assembly of a 95 cougar, along with the front cradle assembly along with springs struts and all the trimmings,, Using the 15" X 70 Cougar rims with T rated Michilin tires,, and a 347 Stroker along with an AOD trans. I know I have some serious Mods to do,, But the results will be a ride like a Lincoln and the power of a street racer,, 4 wheel indipendant along with rack and pinion steering will be almost unbeatable in a road race.
The Goal is to build a small car from the past with the best of 2 worlds.
Ride and Power,,, I will photo document and also come up with a plan and materials if any one would want to try this in the future.

Thank you for your time all.

    Joe

your basing your ideal of the ultimate maverick off what a woman wants in a car?

thats the funniest thing ive heard in a while :D

but it sounds like you have a good plan layed out, i definatly wish you the best of luck with it.

Whats wrong Man? You ain't lived till you get a Stock suspended and stock steering Maverick up to 150+. WOW! What a rush. Ever heard of to good of steering, Try it, Lets you know what living fast is all about. Disclaimer: Don't try this on a public road or highway, all test were done on a closed circuit.

I don't want to get in the middle of the pee'ing contest.
I just want to point out that Lincolns ride like Lincolns in large part due to a long wheelbase.
The short wheelbase, and narrow track, on our cars will not allow a cushy ride.
