demon finally made a stree demon that is in our price range....... http://www.barrygrant.com/demon/default.aspx?page=6
Haven't had too much luck with Demon carbs, other than they look good. The guy that used to own my mustang had a 650 Demon on it, and tuned EVERYTHING until he could no longer tune. Bolted on a stock Edelbrock 600 and gained .3/ 2mph at a 1000' track. I have seen/heard of many who have had the same problem, but also have heard of many others who have had good results. I still think one would be money ahead to buy a good Holley and go from there. BTW I still have that Edelbrock on the mustang....changed metering rods and secondary jets once right after I got it (which by the way picked the car up another .4 total, then swapped the 239,000 mile 302 for a new, lighter-internal, ported D5TE 351w headed 302 originally the "turbo maverick" motor) and 28,000 miles later, I have not touched it yet. IMHO, I don't think you can be an Edelbrock EPS carb for true bolt-on-and-go performance. Again, these are just my opinions, FWIW.
sorry but i just despise hollys..........lol just cant help it heh predators would be nice if they wernt so damn big and boxxy
I got a 650 Deamon on mine and other than installing some air bleeds to richen the idle circuit, It runs great right out of the box. On the dyno, the A/F ratio was right on.
My Race Demon has done great and i've never done anything to it......my buddy just bolted an 850 demon to his new 351W mustang drag car and it ran a 6.65 off the trailer(on motor)....he hasn't touched his carb either........
i have a Mighty Demon 820 on mine worked good right out of the box. i do know that the early Demon carbs had problems thats why Jegs no longer carries them to many returns and Berry Grant would not cover them jegs got stuck with them found most of it was the needles and stuff loose in the float bowls
dunno........this is a new carb that just came out....street demon jr. i believe it is........seen it at a both at the swapmeet
I had some bad luck with an old 650 Road Demon of mine. Well, a lot of bad luck, actually--but i still have faith that they make good carbs. My particular problem was that one of the threads on the bowl bolt got a lil' messed up and started pulling out the helicoils before i realized what was wrong. Not easy to replace, either. My other problem was a constant leanness on part throttle--Barry Grant's suggestion to install airbleeds did nothing. I finally ditched it for a holley, and i noticed a huge difference seat of the pants. After a while i decided to put the Demon metering blocks onto my holley (which by then had a proform center body), and ran into the same part-throttle-leanness issue. After playing with it for days, i realized that the transition slot hole was INCREDIBLY small on the demon, so opened it up a bit and it runs great now I always tell customers and friends that Edelbrocks are easier to tune and keep in tune, but if you know what you're doing with a Holley you WILL notice the difference.
carb. straight now got the 650 holley straightened out today. m.a.v. stopped by today and found the secondary float stuck open. he pulled the needle and seat and cleaned it. reset the float level and we were off and running. at least my son was, he does all the test runs. thanks again m.a.v. you are the man...frank...:bananaman :bananaman
I have a question, Jegs says that a 750 performer edel. carb is matched to the performer rpm manifold. Is that too much for a 302 that i am planning on putting a high energy cam in??? -Todd:confused:
