Comet/Maverick hood latch

    Tan 1972 Grabber 66 Mustang Conv 64 Falcon Squire 63 Falcon Sprint 76 White Maverick Stallion 1962 Falcon 2Door Wagon 1957 F-100 SWB.
    Will the hood latch assembly from the radiator support of a 70 Maverick work on a 72 Comet? Thanks in advance

    Yes, all the hood latches are the same on all year Comets and Mavericks

    the lach on my comet is alot diffrent then the one on my comet. the part on the grill is probably the same but i know the piece bolted to the underside of the hood is diffrent

    I assume he mean't Maverick is different from Comet.

    Yeah, I wasn't thinking (1st time for everything). With the hood be a little longer in the front center, the latch would HAVE to be different. :cool:

    whoops haha

    yea i ment to say the hood latch on my MAVERICK is diffrent then my comet's

    on the comet the release handle sticks out further since the nose of does and to release it you move it towards the driver's side headlight while on the maverick you kind of push it up. if you put a maverick latch on a comet hood you would have to have really long fingers to reach it

    While on this subject I thought I would add that I've heard the hood latch/valance support is different on the 70-73's than the 74-77's but I just bolted up the small bumper parts (lower valance and gravel pan) right to the stock assembyy on my 77. :huh:

    yea same here, the hood latch had nothing to do with my small bumper swap

    What I was refering to is the part that bolts to the rad support and the gravel pan and front valance bolt to it. The only difference that I've seen is that the center bolt location for the gravel pan needs about a 1/4" spacer and a longer bolt.
