I have a driver's remote mirror that I want to remove the cable from. The adjuster wand is buggered up and I want to change out the cable with one from another mirror. In order to remove the cable from the housing and base, I have to either seperate the 3 cables from the glass mirror or the adjuster wand. I see the cables going into the back of the mirror and the wand but how in the heck do they come out of there?

I have never done such a thing. Not sure it can be done.

They are crimped in there and next to impossible to remove.

It can be done, take it apart at the adjuster handle (wand as you call it). It takes a while but you can pull the handle out of the base and the wires will slide out the sides. Be sure to label the wires and the holes in the handle so you can put it back together.

I have done this before, a few years back. Real pain in the butt.

Thanks guys - I guess since the adjuster cable that I have is shot anyway, I'll experiment and see if I can get it apart. I've read in another thread to be careful with the little crimp areas holding the cable shield as to not break them off. Won't be able to fix that.
