I was commenting on how clean the engine compartment and under carriage was. I was really surprised. The overall condition of the car is no better than you would expect from a car that sat in a field for ten years. It would take a ton of work to put this car on the road. I would do it for a 2-door but not a 4-door. Cary
With that much rust in the quarters, I would have no desire to repair that car. That car looks to have major issues. How much rust is in the floors, front fenders, torque boxes? My '72 WAS a parts car when I bought it, guy had been parting it out, and sold it to me for $100 as it being a parts car only. Rust bubbles in the rear quarters, tail panel has a few places that are rusted through, and bondo everywhere. Structurally solid for the most part, just one little pinhole starting in the passenger side torque box. One hole in the rear floor pan, about 8 inchs around, rest of the floor is solid. The title is bad, car is not registerable in most states requireing a title. Georgia dosen't care though, if it's not been reported stolen and dosen't have a lien against it, they'll register it. I bought it, threw an engine, rearend and front end on it, and have drove the crap out of it. http://mmb.maverick.to/gallery/showimage.php?i=2808&catid=8 We are undecided still on the future of the car. It may become a parts car again.
Just based on the quarter panel, it's not a parts car. But like Jamie mentioned...is the rest of the car rusted as bad as the quarter? I would certainly inspect a car like that thoroughly before I would consider doing something with it but being a small bumper 2 door car it would have to be pretty bad to make that one a parts car. It doesn't take much rust for me to consider a 4-door car a parts car. JMO
I just got some parts from that car. TY Cary. There is a Big snake skin in the dash. he must have taken up residence to keep the rat population down. Rats have eaten some of the wireing though. Not much rust at all. It's a great find.
