When i drive my 69maverick 302, 3spd, with 3.50 gears on the freeway at about the 60mph mark in feel vibration coming from the back end of the car.....could this be the U joint? rear end? or perhaps could the tires not be blanced properly?

    any ideas?

    Thanks

i would crawl under the car>>>>(easier said than done!!) and grab hold of the drive shaft and shake it....sounds to me like either your u-joint is bad or your yoke is coming lose in your rearend. if you feel any play watch real close at the yoke nut and see if you can see the yoke moving. if it isnt either one of those problems then the next thing i would try is to jack up your rear end one side at a time and grab the wheel and push and pull on it and make sure the axle retainer isnt coming lose, its rare but it happens, also check your shocks and make sure they are tight.

Thanks, I actually am lucky to have access to a lift, I think I'll get my car put on a lift and have my friends dad look at it.

My dads suggestion was for me to take it to his work and have some one put in on a fork lift........hahaha...... i think not

and if you find out that the yoke is lose i recommend rebuilding the whole rearend if it is original..........sounds expensive but its not really......i just talked to a vender at the swapmeet that carrys a master rebuild kit for the eight inch for about 160 dollars the website is www.davidkeetoploaders.com they dont have it listed on thier site but email them and they will tell you everything you need to know
