I have a '73 Comet GT with the bumper that sticks out some. I want to slide the bumper back so it sits closer to the front end. We tried everything to get the rubber out of the bumper holder things (?) and nothing is happening. Any ideas?????

It's bolted to the front of the fenders.

No no, we can get the bumper mounts out, its just the rubber inside we cant get out. We need the rubber out in order for it to slide back.

The rubber thing that sits between the bumper and the grill? it's bolted to the fenders and rad support. Or are you trying to get the rubber out of the bumper mounts? It doesn't come out.

I haven't done this myself, but can't you press the bumper mounts further into the brackets? The rubber is not removable, but it should slide. That was the whole reason for that design, right?

    This isn't a problem.

If you have decided you must get the rubber out of them, use a torch.
