It was free to enter and was at a Car dealership so I took the Son and the Maverick up and entered. Didn't place in the show (which upset my son terrible because he thinks the Maverick is the cat's meow and should absolutely win a trophy. I tried to show him the difference between a Show car and my Daily driver, but he just doesn't want to hear it. LOL

Anyway Was definitely the only Maverick and was actually one of only 4 Fords, There was also a 57 T-Bird, a 71 or 72 Mach1, the Maverick, and a 77 or 78 T-Bird. Other than That it was all Chevys, Olds, Buicks, Pontiacs, and Dodge/Chrysler/Plymouth and such, really short on the FORD participation.

Lot's of Nice cars, Way too many Camaros. Idunno something about those cars that just doesn't do anything for me. I think it's because they are Overly popular and since they started selling the whole car brand new in pieces from Taiwan. But that is neither here nor there.

It was a good day and the Son and I got to spend some time together looking at a lot of nice cars and got to take a nice drive in the Maverick and talk to a lot of people that owned Maverick "back in the Day"

If I get a chance I will post some pics that I took,b ut I dont' have the camera here at work so it will have to be late tonight or tomorrow.

Glad you had a blast! What brand of dealership was it that put it on? I know up here Fords are also short at the shows.

Two 1973 LDO Mavericks (one 4 Drag one 4 driving like Mad on the roads :) ) also have a 75 6cyl Stock! Ok, well sort of Stock :P
sounds like a typical car show... mavericks rarely get respect.. unless it really stands out... even then... people love belly buttons... er i mean camaros cuz everyone has one. don't feel bad... heck the last car show i was at a stock C5 vette won!.. i was like huh? i never go to win anymore i go to show the car.

oh yeah... your comment about "back in the day" is a very common one at car shows. like "i wrapped my around a tree", "my buddy rolled his", "the car woundn't die!" "my mom had one i hated it!" get any of those? lol!

Yes I got a bunch of those comments, about back in the day. I got 1 "looks like a blowed up pinto to me" comment, and when I asked where his car was he said he didn't have one he just worked for the dealership. LOL

It was a Chevy/Dodge/chrysler/plymouth dealership BUT the original dealership "Sheehy" was a Ford dealer and now they own the original Ford dealership plus a bunch others to include the one the show was located.

I did get the atttention of the owner of the dealership his name is Paul Sheehy and he came over and admired the Maverick, and told me he always did like them from way back when his Dad and Grand Dad sold Fords at the original dealership.

Everyone was really amazed at the fact that I drive the car as a daily driver approx 55 miles a day, and this one couple even recognized the car from Ebay from when I bought it. They had a 4 door Maverick that the lady drove and they sunk a couple pretty pennies into it and someone broadsided her and tore it up, now someone else in the area is supposed to have it about an hour north of where I live, The even Mention Dennis and his Sprint and said that he had helped them with getting parts for the 4 door after it got wrecked.

I just have to teach that son of mine that it's not just about getting the trophy at the end of the Day. Trophies make it a little nicer day but it's just not neccessary to have a good time, and with My Maverick being a driver that trophies will be few and far between. LOL

    Now when I get Pop
s old Army Jeep restored and take it to some shows I might get upset if I don't get a trophy or two...LOL
