If you only knew.... I don't need my dads friend to tune my car I do it myself. Vettes and Lambo's, wow i'm NOT impressed. We race/drive on street tires BFG DR's and have been the best of 8.10 @175. The average street/strip car in this neck of the woods is a 9.0 to 10.0 car. Matter of fact as I type Jeremy (a local guy) just drove by with his Mustang street car and it goes 9's, so until you come up here and live it, don't throw stones.... Bill
Jamie sorry but not in the least have you even ruffled a feather, I am pretty thick skinned.... I also don't go and under estimate someone or there vehicle before I know what i'm talking about.... Bill
Most 8-10 second cars(in the 1/4) up here may be street legal, but they are not driven on a regular basis like the 347,s that are built for $5,000.00 or less. these are camaro's, mustangs, dodges with 750 or more HP. lets face up to it that a motor that produces lg amounts of HP either on or off the bottle are not very nice to drive 70 or more miles. radical cams and gears make for uncomfortable rides. These cars are driven for 30 minutes or less , then shut down for 2-4 hrs , then driven home again till next weekend. been that way for a coons age Lotssa 10 second stangs dont get driven on the street regulary. HMMMMMM I wonder why????. TTFN RON
I hate to bring it up again but watch this video (long but good) The black 1964 4 door Rambler that is draging the bumper ,and then later makes the pass that shows 8.17 @ 172 mph. It is driven on the street regularly...drove in the Power Tour from Middle Georgia to North Carolina ...won the Power Tour Dyno shootout (put down 1,140 rwhp with the "wick" turned down a bit since he was so far from home with a long drive back). Also he drove it from Ga. to Virginia and back last year. I personally have seen it run 7.70 @ 172 mph at Silver Dollar Raceway. he drove up to Summit two weekends ago and won the Dynomax dyno shootout with 1,260 rwhp , 997 rwtq. By the way ...its a 92 octane pump gas car! http://jmrdragracing.com/images/Spee...LANDO_256k.wmv
Just, a quick FYI to let you guys know, The September Issue of Hot Rod magazine has a Feature article on Brians 1964 Rambler...check it out.
Not to be nit picky, but you said in the top quote that you have double the 400-450 hp number in your mav and you're the slow one of the group. That to me insinuates that you have used your 500 shot of NOS before while running with the "pack". But in the middle quote you make a brief mention of "will i be able to do this all the time NO. Probably do it once and break everything." That to me again insinuates that you haven't even shot the 500 shot yet.... and if you haven't and you're afraid it might break something/everything with the 500 shot, why shoot it? why not 150 or 250 shot. Is it for the bragging rights? I dont see much bragging rights there if it doesnt ever get used, and if it does, a 900 hp broken engine doesn't keep up with my 135 hp cavalier. Anyway, this whole thread was about just wanting to know figures from a 347, yes he expressed his Opinion about ricers, it offended you. It's an opinion, and every opinion generally offends atleast someone.
I went and actually bought a copy today (I had been told about the article from a friend). And I spoke with Brians dad about it , the info and pics in the article is all old news/old set up . the car now has a VERY different set up and has Twin (huge) Turbos, different intake, exhaust system is larger and alot of other things have been changed...the car is quite a bit stronger now.
