It is crap, so if you have one, just send it to me and I will take it to the recycling center for you... I will even be generous enough to send you a check for what the center gives me, like $10 or so
I haven't heard a whole lot about it but what I have heard is typical of the Ford Boss products...Strong, reliable, and ready to be built and beat! Oh, and EXPENSIVE
I believe I read something that said the new Boss block was good for 1000+ horsepower, thats a pretty stout block.
I'd rather have the Man-O-War block... 4.155 bore Something like 360 cubes with an 8.2 block and mild stroker crank. 380ish with max stroke. 8.2 block also comes with 351w main webbing so you don't have to clearance the block for big stroke. You have to use a W oil pan, distributor, and oil pump... not a big deal. The 9.5 block would be 433 with a simple 408 crank. Can go to 460ish with a max stroke crank. The "Boss" block is just sales hype IMO. They don't even sell the long block with Boss heads. Hype...
Apparently, you know more about this than the rest of us... So, I can drop a "small block" 460 into my car?
You could, however I am more conservative and would do the tried and true 408 crank with a big bore. It only comes up to 433, but if you don't max out the crank, everything is soooooo much easier. No clearancing, less expensive, better rod ratio, etc so on...
I agree, it really shouldn't be called a Boss 302 without the 351C heads. However, it looks to be a great a great crate.
You could always bolt on a set of Ford Motorsport heads on it. Personally I think you can get as much HP out of it with after market heads. If you are turning enough RPM to need the Cleveland heads then you can afford to adapt a set to it.
I like the new boss block I don't like Ford using the boss name for their windsor headed long blocks. I may heve even picked it if I hadn't been so far along in the build. One thing I like is it is set up to run both style heads. Before anyone starts to argue the stock 302 block needs extra holes drilled in the deck to match up with the head gasket and Cleavland heads water ports.
