Hello All...The 71 Maverick was my DAD's, bought new. He gave it to me when I retired from the Air Force after 25 years. The 302 still runs great with 190,000 miles on it. Lifters tick a bit but still will boogie. I have not taken any pic's with the digital yet but they are coming. Floor pans, vent cowls, and control arms need replaced as well as the seats needing a face lift or replacement. Paint is the factory Grabber blue but the car is a regular 2 door sedan not a Grabber. Car is all original so I am having a tough time deciding whether to Rod it with a 331 stroker or restore it.

welcome to the board. since it is an original 302, i'd think about restoring it cause of the memories. then i'd pick up another to rod it. you can never have too many mavericks.:) :Welcome:

you can restore it to factory condition, drop the 331 in and no one will ever know the diffrence untill they mash the peddle! Good luck and cant wait to see the pics.

Thanks All for the replys! Since we have last spoken I put in new lifters, pushrods and rockers. No more tickin and just a bit more power. Lower left control arm changed. Purchased everything to change the front drums to disk (still need to install). So now we have to get to the next project (Floor Pans and vent towers, oh boy). The end result will be stock looking and a 331 roller with the stock motor put away(last thing I will do, car and suspension will be first). No pictures yet but I will get them.
