its a 73 six'er that now has a 80,000 mile 302 with ported e6se heads, performer intake, headman headers, 512 lift (don't know for shure, ebay deal w/o cam card) shift kit, mini spool, 3.80's
ok so i'm building a supercharged 347 and i have no idea what cam i should run. this motor is carburated with procomp 210cc heads and 9.0:1 comp. i know that forced motors don't take too well to lots a valve over-lap. this is a street driven motor with track time. now what i'm wondering is has anyone ran an x303 cam with a supercharger? is there some hint of idle quality with it? any info would be nice. thanks.

.512 lift sounds right for a x-303. I'll check the Motorsports catalog to make sure. I have the same cam for a 347 I hope to piece together. For forced induction I would probably call Conely's in Houston 540- FAST, It is 281 of 713 area code. Or PSI performance (I dont have the #). PSI may only be for FI motors. ............Maverick

My set up is a roots type, producing 10 psi boost. 3.50 gears, C4,28 inch tall tires, car weighs 3400 with me inside, with a safe tune on M/T drag radials the car will go mid to high 10s with decent traction. ( i went 6.80s friday nite with limited traction 1.69 60 ft, most all tracks we have is 1/8 mile, I have to drive about 150 miles to run 1/4.)

A lot of guys like the F cam with forced induction. Personally I'm not a big fan of Ford's alphabet cams, 20 year old technology.

    I had the X-303 in my 89 G.T.
.542 lift. you must check piston to valve clearance with this cam, it's very close.

If you call the Ford Motorsports tech line, they can tell you what cam to use. I've called them before, and found them very helpful.

I'd call a real cam company. Not Comp, Crane, Jegs, Summit, or any of those. Camshaft Innovations and Cam Research are two good ones and both of those guys know Ford engines pretty well. I run one from Cam Research..and I love it. But it's a race car so I don't care about idle quality and all that. I also ran an Erson cam in my old turbo Maverick. I can't remember the grind number but I bet I can look it up. It had a 114 lobe separation. Idled great, pulled from about 2000-6000 (turbocharged) and I also ran it naturally aspirated in my old Mustang....where it did an EXCELLENT job on the streets. Good idle, good response, WIDE power band (2500-6500). That said, turbo engines are different animals than blower motors so if it were me, I'd call a couple companies and see who you like the best. The alphabet cams aren't bad, but as mentioned, they're 20 years old now. Technology and camshaft design have improved a million times since then.

Two 1973 LDO Mavericks (one 4 Drag one 4 driving like Mad on the roads :) ) also have a 75 6cyl Stock! Ok, well sort of Stock :P

especially comp...! damn racist bunch of rat bastard mofos! oh i'm sorry did i say that out loud!

get a lobe around 112 to 114.. stay away from the 108 and 110s unless you already have a high compression motor and want to blow off some of the boost out :p ;)

oh yeah though you didn't ask i'l suggest anyways stay with some higher gears like 3.50s so you can keep that thing in boost longer.
