Ok, this is getting annoying. I have a 1974 Mav., 200CI L6. Soon after I bought it the little nub on the end of the cable that attaches to the accelerator pedal broke off. I finally found a replacement cable. That lasted about 6 months. The nub broke off again. I had a machine shop put a new nub on, and he promised it was stronger than the original. Well, guess what? The nub broke off again! What is going on and does anybody have a NOS accelerator cable I can buy?

If your cable has an eyelet that is held on with a "pin" on the gas pedal....then you need to switch over to the other style of cable/pedal.

There is a "v" with a small circle at the bottom of the "V" in back of the accerator cable. There is a round plastic grommet that the nub goes into. Then the plastic grommett is slipped down the "V" untill is pops in place

Also, when you replace your cable, Have someone open carb wide open, check gas pedal to make sure it is just hitting the floor. If carb is wide open an pedal is not touching on floor (stopping further movement) You have a lot of pressure on cable.

Of course you want to do this with engine OFF

Is there an adjustment on the accelerator pedal to limit travel?

No, any adjustment will have to be bending. Bracket on intake, bend gas pedal either end, bolt installed in gas pedal rod to limit travel, padding on floor to stop pedal travel (will compress after time) just some ways to adjust, look at what you have an you will find your best way

Aftermarket cables usually have adjustments, Good Luck
