The mav is gone but i'm still here!
Have you checked the local shops?...the ones around here sell short blocks starting @400 and long blocks start @700...just tell them you need it for an older car and they build it right.
    Good Luck

On thing more you'll need with column shift is an adapter bracket to replace the missing pivot hole at the driver's side rear that the linkage pivots off of. The Classic Stang suppliers sell these for clutch pivot linkage. If you're just using the alternator and P/S, you might look at the late 80's Crown Vic/Lincoln Town car/Marquis accessory front dress, these use a two belt set that uses the serpentine flat belts, waterpump is std rotation and it's belt drives the P/S and alternator. The inner belt drives the A/C and smog pump.

As of now it seems easier to change to a floor shifter.. What do I need for that swap?

You should just need a universal floor shifter, then disconnect old column linkage.

Floor shifter is definitely the way to go!

Alright then I think I will do that. Seems to be easier in the end. Hey rayzorsharp you selling any 302's? :)

Well, I do have one or two I could let go but they are still in cars and you're an awful long ways away. Would be a heck of a road trip for a motor you can probably find closer. Oh yeah, they would both need rebuilding too. Neither of them have a lot of miles on them but both were flooded in Katrina. I'm sure they can be salvaged but I haven't had the time to do anything with them.

You can generally find a stock Maverick or Mustang floor shifter on eBay. That way it would bolt right up with no major problems. Well, other than the shift lever on the tranny. It would be upside down. You would need to get a lever from a floor shift tranny or have your lever modified. The shift pattern would be backwards if it's not changed out. It may be simpler if you use an aftermarket shifter with a cable.

Some Mavericks that came with column shifted 3-speeds don't have the shifter mounting provisions on the tranny's tailshaft housing. You have to either use a universal shifter (big hole, looks crappy) or change tail housings and use a correct shifter (easy, looks better). 'Course since you're going with a 5.0 a T5 would be easy.

it sounds like a lot of parts that need to be changed, but it's not all that bad, not a weekend job, but once it's all together, the engine will go right in. I have a 95 cobra motor in mine, with some decent work done to it, I have 2 spare pump eccentrics, and other stuff. Let me know if you really want to go ahead with this swap, it's worth it to get the roller in there
