I don’t see these tail lights a lot. What’s the rap?

I have never heard of a rimblow coming on a Maverick!?!
That is a seriously high line wheel that was an option on Stangs, Cougars, Torinos and such.
The one that is being refered to as "rimblow" is not what Ford called a "rimblow".
It looks exactly like the 71-73? wheel, except the horn is not in the middle. The horn was activated by a semi-circular metal ring that hang in the bottom half of the wheel.
Dan has a proper 'Rimblow' wheel in his car, but it was his upgrade, probably a Torino unit (or at least a Torino emblem).

    Edit:
I am not disputing, just looking for more confirmation, as well as point out the ring-blow wheel of 69.5.
With Ford, many things happened that weren't on paper, as well as things not happening that were on paper.

Rimblow wheels were STANDARD on the early 1970 Maverick Grabbers. It was deleted in April of 1970.

I have a picture from a Road & Track article of the 1970 Grabber. Has a nice picture of the Rimblow wheel from the factory. Like Craig said .. it was only part of the package for the special 3 Month Maverick/Mustang Grabber promotion ... when a Grabber became a permanent Maverick option it was removed from the package. Maverick used the same wheel and center medallion as the Torino ... the Ford Crest as shown above. I made my own emblem out of Clear Resin, PVC pipe and a door medallion ...

the horn in this picture was on the 69.5 model then the steering wheel in my car is the same steering wheel without the horn ring.

BTW I always thought that the wheel with the horn ring was a rim blow steering wheel??? who'da thunk??

    Hey! Cool!
    I learned something today...

Madman put up the pic with the horn ring, and that is the one I was thinking of.

However, the rimblow is much cooler.
    And apparently much rarer!

Now that I just typed that, I think I recall the rimblow coming up in that long thread a while back about the "rarest Maverick options"...

    Btw:
Dan, I have a pic of a Sprint from a 71 Playboy magazine, and it shows the Mustang Sprint quarter emblem on the Maverick. However, I don't know that any were sold that way.

Not disputing the rimblow, mind you, just pointing out that I have much better reading material than old R&Ts! :D

That is Wes's car. I have never seen a maverick cop car, but supposedly there was the option for them. Wes's car is certainly cool for sure.

Why was the 70s model comets modeled after mavericks?

Why was the front clip extension added to the design?

Ford made a Maverick Police Package in 1977 and produced about 500 (I believe) of them. Most were used by NYPD and the military.
