In a 306 engine 10.5 comp victor jr heads what camshaft do you think works well and reasonably low cost? In a drag race application comp cams
Hydraulic part# cca-35-254-4 or mechanical part# cca-31-609-5, roller being too expensive for me!
Anyone have desktop dyno? Mind running the #s

The solid will have a higher rpm potential. So it depends on what the bottom end will stand. What's that made up of? What intake and carb? You've got heads that'll allow it to rev to the moon, but that's only part of the equation.

Stock crank with sfi balancer and windage tray, scat H-beam rods and 7/16 bolts. Lightweight keith blacks flat top pistons.
Victor jr intake with Holley HP 830 carb

Add a main girdle and the solid cam and see what it's made of. Ought to be good for 8500 rpms sounds like to me if the crank holds together. I've rev'd the late 80's 302 cranks to 7500 with no special prep.

Schnider makes great cams as well. My buddy has one in his '73 Maverick, and it kicks some serious @$$...
