My 72 Grabber has a Auto Trany, and NO power steering. I was noticing under the hood where the floor shifter linkage comes up and attaches to the steering colum under the hood, it seems theres a bushing missing. I hope i describing this correct. can anyone tell me what that bushing is called so i can order one? STUD, NUT, WASHER AND PIN... I can see the stud, washer and cotter pin, but mine dont have a nut..

    Thanks
    Chaz...

Whats the size (thickness) of the rod? Hurst makes a bushing kit for floor shifters that might just work:huh: .

Well unfortunatly, my camera stinks! I cant get a good picture of it. ANd its a pain in the rear to get to .After looking at a MUSTANG chilton, i think it might be the lock rod for the steering wheel. im not sure. I need a breakdown..

    Slider28,
Do you have a floor shifter or column shifter? Are you talking about the end that attaches at the transmission or the shifter?
or are you talking about something in the steering column under the steering wheel? I am lost with your description of things - help out an old man and give me a little more information.

Not to hijack this thread, but while were on the subject. I have a couple of factory Maverick auto floor shifters with no linkage. How would I go about geting linkage for them? Would a tranny shop just make me some linkage, I have also heard of somehow modifying the column shift linkage.

Its a floor shifter.. The rod that comes up from the shifter between the firewall and engine (right under the master cylinder) that connects to the steering colum right under the master cyliner. It has a cotter pin and and a cracked in half (groment) or washer.

Maybe you just need to replace the cracked washer?

One of the washers (there are two) does have a contour to it. It is made that way to keep tension on the other flat washer against the cotter pin. I would think you could get one at the hardware store???

Is it a plastic thing that the shifter rod pushes into? Yellowish white?
