I had 89 Ford Aerostar that did the same thing, got the local muffler place to reweld it back....Sold the van many years later, never had any more problem.

Alright so I took it to a couple places today... It's gonna be about 200 bucks because the guy is gonna reinforce both parts where the shocks bolt in to... He said it will take him about 3 days to do all the work.. Tomorrow I'm gonna ask him exactly what he's gonna do.. Thanks to all that helped

    Uh-uh, not $200 bucks...

NO, STOP, he is trying to screw you...

Seriously, $15 and 2 minutes welding it up...make friends with someone who has a welder, but do NOT pay ANYONE $200!!!

And it DEFINITELY will NOT take him 3 days.

And find a new mechanic...you should never let this guy do anymore work for you...and tell your friends he is a crook...

If a guy charges $200 to do an excellent job, that looks as good as it is strong, and you are willing to pay that amount and make sure that he does a great job then go for it. Prices vary widely from state to state and even from county to county. As long as he knows he is working on a classic car and is up to the highest scrutiny and his work pleases you then go for it. I do my own work because I can but if I was going to repair high load parts that broke from the factory I would want to be able to take some time to make sure it doesn't break on my customer in the future. MOst of the welders in my area will charge $100 just to connect a ground electrode. Go with your conscience.

He's a Ford guy and said that he wants to take his time with it because it's an older car and not just slap something together that will break again... He owns a Falcon(with a 302) and a Cortina(lol)... He seemed to really like my car and looks like a good guy.. He even gave me a gas cap cuz my last one kinda broke off.... As you can see in the pic... that piece of metal is "hanging" down a bit.. I was pretty freaked when I saw how close it is to the fuel return line :yikes:

In the picture, the fuel line looks like a chunk is missing out of it...

Oh, I just saw that you are in California, it just MIGHT cost you $200 out there. By the way, I go out to Seal Beach a couple times a year, may need to catch up with you sometime when I come out there.

Actually, next time I go for more than a weekend, I will shoot a note and and try to get a mini meet going so we can all meet and greet...:D

That would be awesome! Then we can take a pic of everyone doing a burnout in front of a Honda dealer... LOL It's actually just a jagged edge of the piece of metal the Mount bolts on to... He said he was gonna drop the gas tank to weld everything up... I'm gonna trust that he's a good guy and a good mechanic, I'll post some pics of the finished work when I get my car back

That is exactly how mine broke.
Just that my shock was totally hanging loose with the mount and floor chunk still bolted to the top of the swinging shock.

I think the first thing I would do is GET INSURANCE so if you hit some one else you can portect yourself and the other person. I would not even think about driving that car without insurance. Some people say I can not afford insurance but you can not afford to not have insrance.
