door button fell out, wtf?

so im at the car show last night getting ready to leave, go over to open the door, push down with my thump on the botton, and theres nothing there luckly it was laying in the grass right below the handle. it was the chrome botton with a small metal rod comming out of the back. i put it back in the hole, pushed it in and the door opened normally but theres nothing to hold the botton in its place. so ive been caring it around in my pocket as my new door key, pretty ghetto becides a dab of JB weld on the tip of it how should i try to fix this one? whole new handle?

I would go with a new handle. I have one from a 4 door Maverick I'll sell

 

In case you don't know.....the back door handles are different than the front door handles.

 

no i didnt know that. are the front handles on a 4dr the same as a 2 dr?

alright, cool. thanks for the info. i see if i can find a used one first, theres no way to repair the old one?

 

Ebay has them..get a new pair right at $30.
