Im working on a friends maverick converting it from a points distributor to the later electronic IGN. Ive looked in some archives here, and found some info, but the wire color on the plugs are not what is described. I know what its off of, 81 ford truck 5.0. Blue grommet box, 2 plugs, a 4 wire plug, and a 2 wire plug. the 2 wire plug has a red/blue stripe and the other is red/green. the 4 wire plug wires are black, orange/yellow stripe, green/yellow stripe, and purple/blue stripe. The box says MOTORCRAFT across it, not duraspark, I have the part numbers of the unit if this helps. He just cut the wires off bout 6 inches of the plugs so I got both male/female plugs. Any body got a diagram handy? its a 5.0 engine BTW. ChadS
I figured I best have a second look,,, orange, black, green, and purple, and the others are red and white, the colors described was in the plugs going out, not the plugs on the box. On my distributor, has 3 wires, top wire is a burned orange, second is a faded orange or light red, bottom wire is black. Which wires go to what to hookthe dizzy up to the box? Dizzy is from a 5.0, different plug on it than what the box has. The box is from a ford truck, and the dizzy is from a 82 or 83 t-bird. any info would be great. Chad
