Ok I got my motor in and bolted in and all the neccesities on. I primed the motor to make sure I had good oil pressure. I found that I had 80 psi while cranking the engine and 120 psi while idle. I adjusted the valve rockers and timed the motor and started the motor for the first time. man the damned thing sound good.

Something aint right! Did you pump up the spring in the oil pump? If you have that much or are near 100 when engine is warm,,,you will be blowing filters apart! Need to check gauge to see if right, an go from there! Good luck an keep us posted.

A good tigth motor should have great oil press. my 289 in my 56 f100 still has 80 psi when cold it has 56000 miles on it . when new it would berry a 100 psi gauge at idle it stayed there untill it got to temp .

Excessive oil pressure is bad for bearings...

well the motor is all new and the pump is new adn runs great sound good the oil pump pressure worries me. I guess I will have to check the pressure with an autometer mechanical gauge tomorrow. The clearances are per specs.
