I would paint the hood. But I like the older muscle car look. The hood looks too NEW to me.

i hear yah... i like the older muscle car look too but don't wanna be the same like 18's on the car aren't really old either.. so the scheme may work..

gonna see if it grows on me and get some response from some people at a show next weekend. the editor on M&Fs can Car Craft really liked it however they like really differant stuff!

i'll keep you posted.. still lots to finish up and no time.

    But if you paint it...

...what is the point of it being carbon fiber? Other than
    strength and weight savings?
The fact that it is carbon fiber is most of what makes
it cool. If it were painted to match the car, I would
assume it were fiberglass and not so unique.

    JMO-

Say, Maverick Man, can you e-mail me?

I know, "what is the point of painting it if it is carbon fiber?" But why make a black carbon fiber hood for a blue car? On a black car it would look awsome but I personally think it looked better when the whole car was the same color. Now since it is for show I am sure it won't hurt having something so unigue and original. If it was at a hot rod muscle car show I would subtract points, at an import show it wouldn't be the only one with a corbon fiber so it's not really unique. I know I am being critical but he asked what we thought and I just really liked his car already the way it was. Now if it was blue carbon fiber to match then that would be sweet.

    what iff??

what if te trunk was to match??? I notice the roof is dark(black?) and if the trunk matched (carbon fiber could be a touch pricey) it would be a definite looker (to me anyways) .........Robert:)
    just my thoughts......:bananaman :bananaman

I like the shape, i dont like how it doesnt match. Maybe if you sprayed it with a blue clearcoat??? I saw on tv somewhere that if you do that it will reflect blue, i think that would be perfect.

The hood goes perfectly with the mags. Old muscle cars had the black painted hood, new resto mods should have the carbon fiber hood.

Owning a Maverick is being different, owning a Maverick with a carbon Fiver hood is really being a maverick!

    I think he said...

...in an earlier post that he wanted it in blue,
but it wasn't available for some reason.

I guess you'll have to do the rest of the body
in carbon fiber to make it match.

I think it is a tough looking car. Very tough.
And I say that even though my preference is
towards stock style appearance on 60's and 70's
cars featuring lots of get up and go.

Maverick Man just knows how to make one look
right to even someone of my tastes.

I love the car for one thing, and am a huge fan of the big wheel look. About the hood, I think it would be cool if you painted it to match the car but left a little stripe or two just to let people konw that it was carbon fiber. I think that Chevrolet is doing that one one of thier new Corvettes. It is a neat idea. Anyway, love the car!

hum everyone has some good points... but like Stefan said differant is what i'm going for as well as what people call Resto Mod (a fad no doubt, but current for now) but never the less i am going to try to get one done in a dark blue to match the roof as soon as the guy has some time to make me one... right now beggers and free can't be too choosey ;)

it was supossed to be done in that color however its alot harder to do something in color, also the material is rarer.

i'll see this next weekend on how what kinda of comments i get. i don't think i'll win anything since the classes are so broad. as for judging and judges it all depends on what they like and how they are judging the class. i mean last show i went to i got beat out by a stock chevelle.. i mean it was clean as heck and yes it was a real 454 however to me big deal its still stock seen on seen them all... personally there was a tricked out 78 firebird that was crazy that i thought should have won. so like the saying goes "you can't please all of the people all of the time." as for car shows i'll see this next weekend on how what kinda of comments i get.

as for import judging cuz i do some sometimes if you are the same you would actually get more points... the more of the current things you have on your car the better you will score... sounds stupid however thats just the way things go.

this is also why i get sick of car shows is very political... i go in streaks between car shows and drag racing.... its seems most hard core drag racers hate car shows and look down upon most. as this saying goes.. "all show no go" i kinda feel the same way sometimes, however it gives me some variety if i do both... if someone bags on my blue car i'll just tell them i'll be back in a few mins. :D

it was done in black because thats what carbon fiber is... black. or at least thats what the majority (almost all) rolls are supplied as. maybe i'll sell you the black one if i very get the blue one :D

agian thanks for input it kinda helps me as well to tell the guy whos doing the hoods to get input from others. keep comments comming.
