trany and steering help

    i just got the sprint and the tranys weird when i start it in park it jumps to revers how do i fix this any ideas?????? the linkiges are lose would that matter???

    and the steering isnt good ither when i turn the wheel it goes 1/4 befor the wheels turn and the bushing in the middle is good???????

    who do i give the door codes to?? such as trim/rear end ect...

    Well, its been a while since i worked on a mav with a slushbox, but it sounds like your linkage needs adjusted. If i remember right, the adjustment is on the shift arm on the tranny (dont hold me to it, i can look later tommorow). To adjust, lossen the nut, put the column in park, put the shift lever in the park position, and tighten the nut being careful not to move anything. If i'm remembering wrong, i'm sure someone will correct me.

    As for steering, theres a lot that could be wrong. Worn ball stud in the center link if you have manual steering, worn tie rod ends, worn idler arm, too much lash in the gear box. Best way to check would be to jack up the front end on jack stands, and manhandle the tires around, watching the linkage. You should be able to spot any loose parts.

    ...as suggested...lock steering... with it on jackstands (lift in my case) shake one wheel at a time. it could be simple as, something loose.

    i put it on the lift today and checked everthing but all i found was a bad bushing and a leaky pump all ready fixed the bushing will fix the pump next.
