Well, progress has been slight, the shop owner had a kid, and we've been on sched anyhow. this april...next month marks a whole year since it's been in the shop. YES I set this schedule up.. When I brought the car in last april, he was nice enough to not only sponser me by taking a couple of grand off the car (he's never done a mav b4) but let me pay in monthly payments for as long as needed, so we spread it over a year. Today marked my last payment WOOHOO, so the body and paintwork is 100% paid for. This week he got started back up on the car, and is block and sanding it. Final prep for paint is happening now. Paint WILL go on within 3-4 weeks. After that, he's going to let it stay in the shop while I put it all back together (he puts body back together, I do interior and mechanicals) with the use of his lift The biggest thing holding me back is an internal panel that was damaged from an accident 15 years ago, and obviously VERY poorely repaired...I'll enclose a pic. I'm dealing with a maverick.to member right now to ship this panel out to me which he cut from a parts car. the day it comes in, I'll take it to the shop, as that will be the final piece before paint. several other updates: 1. I got the fiberglass rear grabber spoiler from maverick man, an excellent piece I may say. This will be going on during install... 2. I'm 100% going for a 5.0 WITH efi, and mavdog71 who is local and has been through the efi install before has so graciously offered up his help to get me going with efi. 3. I'm having a second hood painted as well. This second hood is a grabber hood. See, my mother who footed the bill for the paint/body work wanted it as original as possible. I had to fight tooth and nail for that damn grabber spoiler, and part of the other deal was to redo the original hood, and I got me a grabber hood painted on the side too so I can swap it on when I want. 4. Another VERY kind board member, scott has sold me some outstandingly as close to mint stuff as it comes, including a dash pad, visors, arm rests, etc. 5. I'm getting the quote for the redo of the original bench seat and back seat/door panels this week. for some reason, I love those early bench seats, you just don't see them any longer, and I thought it would be VERY cool to retain that. also wanted to mention, for those who HAVEN'T followed through, it looks like a lot of filler on the car, but it's not. The maverick got tons and tons of REAL bodywork, pulling dings and ripples as bodywork should be done...what you see is nothing other than a super super super fine skimcoat, which I've verified myself. next update you guys see will be within the next couple of weeks, and we be 100% prepped, and sanded, and in the stage awaiting paint.
Looking good man! Oh your not going to get that body really straight unless some filler is used on it. That stuff is your best friend if you use it properly.
couple of more updates....i'm looking at picking up some sn95 mustang bullit wheels, and I'm going to use bolt on spacers for now....and custom wheels in the future... as well, just picked up some of Jamie's good old thorely headers today, got em straight from the factory
Hey Jay!!! We're getting REAL close for that efi swap, in fact, I'll call you this week, I need to get together with you and make a purchase of everything I'll need, then we can get to install....the car will be painted within the month, we can install after that if you want....I'm guessing it should be pretty simple...next time i'm over there, I'll grab the tank so the modification can be done. mach one wheels may be very interesting...do you have a picture of them?? Do they have tires on them? How much do you want for them? THANKS!!! Jeremy
