I have been gone for a while. Here's the deal I have a 1977 Maverick it has been parked at the in-laws covered for the winter. I just bought my first home and it has a 2 car garage so now I can start working on it. My problem now is that it won't turn over. I went over about a week ago to try and start it but it just turned over. I thought maybe the battery wasn't strong enough, so I went back today with a battery I know was good. when I hooked it up and tried to start it, It did not even turn over. I am at a loss and would appreciate any help. thanks
could be a few things..if it won't turn at all make sure all conections are good, tight and corrosion free..at the battery, solenoid, and starter. Perhaps try another solenoid. You could try to turn it over from under the hood by putting power directly to the ignition terminal on the solenoid..if your key is on and it turns over it should try to start this way. Can't think of anything else at the moment except to try boosting it and getting the starter checked out..maybe someone else will have a few better ideas...
It'a alive I got it running. It was just a weak battery and a couple good pumps of the gas pedal. I just love old cars let them sit all winter charge the battery and wham!!! starts right up. thanks for the help!!!!
