hum intresting.. however they just list the fiberglass part numner? at that price no way it can be CF i don't think someone get close to $255 for a carbon fiber hood. if it is thats a deal.

    Re: Looks Great !!

well thats the debate now... CF is both visual and for performance (as in weight) and this car i built for the looks if i didn't care about looks well i'd paint it no questions asked.

i did like some of the ideas though that some people gave some ideas to paint it with a clear coat to match the roof or even paint the hood and leave the carbon in flames. some people said to paint the car.. but thats no going to happen! but yeah tough desision!

for now gonna leave it cuz most have not seen something like this before.. and like said i have never even seen a car featured in a early model domistic car magazine with a carbon fiber hood. so i'd like to be the first if someone don't do the same soon. no ones really seen it except you guys and the people over here were i work. so maybe afterwards i'll do something with the hood.

no only if i can get some time to finsh up my car.

That looks pretty sweet to me. Gives it that modern, race car, expensive look all in one! I knew a guy with a Civic that had one, it barely wieghed anything. I didn't like the Civic so much, but I thought the hood was cool!

    I like it!

I got the "proper" education when I met up with the guys on the SR20DE mailing list. They showed me what was nice and what was rice.

I have read about them, and seen vague pics of them. Now you have provided us with detailed info and nice pics too. Thanks! I am quite intrigued by that hood, and it looks great on the car.

Sharp hood! I can't wait to see how it turns out once you have it painted! Do you have a better side profile of the whole car with the hood on it?

I don't know, I kinda like the look of it black......kinda gives it that old school muscle car look in a modern kind of way!!! Like some of the old muscle cars that came painted but with a black hood....

I've been kinda busy lately and hadn't had a chance to view the board.

Man, it was nice to jump on here and see the pics and story.

Actually, the price isn't that bad (relatively speaking). I had (and still have) an aftermarket hood for a Fox Mustang. After all the shaping, painting and plumbing of the nitrous purge lines, it cost over $1,000.00 so the price you paid for a Carbon Fiber hood isn't that bad (again, relatively speaking).

Carbon Fiber? You've got more money than god! ;)

Always amazed at the stuff you show us. Very nice!

I saw a late model F-150 with a CF hood and they did something I thought was pretty trick. They painted about a 2" border around the hood in body color and cleared the whole hood. Kind of tied the ood into truck and showed off the CF. Anyways, cool hood!

wow it will be almost 4 years since i made the first hood! and just yesterday i decided to weight it... lol!

i kept telling people i would weight it but either the hood wasn't near a scale or i was just too lazy to take it off my car. or maybe i did weight it and i forgot...lol!

26 lbs with hardware. give or take a pound since i used a bathroom scale... i know i posted stock hood weight on a past post... but can't find it... but i think it was in the 40lbs or so.

also updated some photos on my site with other guys with the hoods on their mavericks... check it out if you have time....
