88 5.0 roller motor

    hey guys
    i have a question i've fond an 88 5.0 roller motor an trans complete for $200.00
    a friend of mine does demo cars an he said he's going to pull the motor an trans out runs great 70000 miles my question is can i pull the injection off
    and make it carbrated for my 74 grabber it has a 250 six c4 thanks grabber/74:dance: :drive:

    Yes you can pull the injection and swap to a carb and intake.

    You'll need a steel geared distributor for it as well if it's a roller cam.

    It's a little more complicated than just carb and intake.

    Block the air pump holes.
    Switch to mechanical fuel pump - you need eccentric and timing chain cover and oil slinger if you can find one.
    The 88 engine has a 50oz imbalance flywheel so make sure the flywheel and harmonic balancer are both 50oz.
    88 is roller cam so a hardened or brass gear on the dizzy is a must.

    im getting the whole motor trans and drive shaft for 200.00 delivered
    to my house will pull the motor here so what i don't need i'll set aside

    I believe you will need to swap to a front sump oil pan as well as the change in pump and pickup.

    Don't forget to plug the dipstick hole in the side of the block. If your car has a column shifter, you'll need to fab a bracket to support the shifter linkage too, the 5.0 blcok doesn't have the hole for this that the earlier ones did.
